Skating, cycling, skateboarding, new sports celebrate the New Year
Transforming a basketball court into an ice rink, putting on cycling clothes for a speed competition, and "surfing on flat ground" in a skateboard park... During the Spring Festival holiday, Shanghai citizens choose to welcome the New Year with "new" sports.
Playing basketball in summer and ice skating in winter, the outdoor basketball court in Rock Park of Hongkou Football Stadium in Shanghai has been transformed into an ice and snow world after a round of renovation. Dai Fuqi, Chairman of Shanghai Luohe Sports Development Co., Ltd., stated that with the momentum of the Beijing Winter Olympics, more and more people in the south enjoy ice and snow sports; Transforming the basketball court into an ice skating rink not only solves the problem of low foot traffic in outdoor courts during winter, but also provides a great place for citizens who love ice and snow sports to go ice skating.
At Shanghai Oriental Sports Center, Ms. Pan Hong, a citizen, is helping her 8-year-old daughter put on ice skates, knee pads, elbow pads, and a helmet, preparing to walk into the ice rink. Feng Navigation, the relevant person in charge of the marketing department of Jiushi Sports East Sports Branch, said, "Since its operation, the venue has been deeply loved by ice fans." During the operation period, ice skating enthusiasts came in a continuous stream. There are children pushing their "ice skating assistants" to slide slowly, there are lively and energetic teenagers, and there are couples taking selfies with their phones and looking for childlike fun.
The relevant person in charge of the Shanghai Ice and Snow Sports Association stated that Shanghai plans to launch more than 20 winter sports events before and after the Spring Festival. In addition to more than ten fixed ice rinks opening to welcome customers, Shanghai has also added 15 seasonal mobile ice rinks.
The Pudong Riverside Cycling Trail in Shanghai has become a popular destination for cycling enthusiasts to check in during the Spring Festival. The cycling track, running track, and walking track are separated here, with supply stations, rest areas, and restrooms set up along the way, with a round-trip distance of tens of kilometers. People can enjoy the scenery while feeling the joy of sports along the way. Ding Gang, Secretary General of the Shanghai Cycling Association, said that cycling can provide a deeper connection with nature and explore cities from a different perspective. This sport is becoming a sport that involves everyone from the elderly to young children.
